Event overview

Chess Classic Mainz ist a chess monster event of superlatives. It takes place once a year in Rheingoldhalle Mainz, Germany. This year, it's from Friday, 6th of August, 2010 until Sunday 8th of August, 2010. Chess Classic Mainz 2010 (CCM10) features excellent viewer oriented and media affine entertainment: Huge screens and TVs transmit the event into every corner of the Rheingoldhalle, several Grandmasters live comment the games audible on lendable earphones. Schach Niggemann, a well-known national chess seller has a large book stand in the lounge, everyone can play the Opens and watch the many Grandmasters play. Also, all tournaments are transmitted on the Internet live.

Good to know:

  • Besides traditional chess, there is also Chess960 simul.
  • All tournaments are played as rapid chess with additional time after each move, which is 20min for the game plus 5s addon for each move.
  • Open participants simultaneously play the world championship!

Kinder Club
Children are being taken care of by competent personnel. They play, do handicrafts, paint, together with other children. Alternatively, they play a round of "Fritz und Fertig".
